THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM

Hello Lovelies,
Like you all know New York has been warned of a coming storm, Sandy, which is supposed to be at its worse tomorrow and on Wednesday (Oct 31st). However, since last Thursday or Friday, the weather has been amazing. The temperatures haven't been under 54F I think so it's all good for now.

Yesterday, although it was raining, it wasn't cold at all so I thought it was my one chance to wear my feather skirt before the storm.

I paired my skirt with a burgundy cashmere sweater and a heavy blazer coat just in case the temperature would drop for some reasons. I really love the feather skirt because are not too long so the skirt is not too puffy. I also like how it so soft to the touch. However, I wish it was a little tiny bit longer.

INSPIRATION: Jourdan Dunn

Hello Lovelies,
I have noticed that I don't have a post for any topic in the "inspiration" tab that I have on my blog and that is sad because everyday I discover new bloggers and I get inspired by so many models, bloggers, photos. So in this post, I am going to introduce one of the models that I love and follow a lot: Jourdan Dunn.

Jourdan Dunn was born and grew up in London but started her runway debut in New York shows in fall 2007, walking for Marc Jacobs among other big designers, after she was discovered in 2006 while shopping in Primark with a friend (NYMag). She gained attention as she was among the few black models that are in the fashion modelling industry (wiki). In 2007, she was featured on the British Vogue as a "new star" (click here for the story) and as one of the top 10 newcomers in "style.com" in 2008. In 2008, she was the first black model to walk a Prada runway over a period of 10 years (teenvogue).

I could go on and on about her biography but it can easily be found on wikipedia, and other web sources so instead I'm going to show you the photos and I'm sure you will fall in love with her too and her pretty smile (ha!).

Indian Food Night + Dinner Outfit

Hello Lovelies,
I have noticed that I love restaurant food. Somehow, I always find an excuse to eat out. I do really spoil a lot my taste buds (ha!). Yesterday, I went to an Indian restaurant and seriously, they have the best Indian food I have ever tried. Not too spicy, not flavorless and not too heavy, except for the Mango Lassy, which I didn't mind because I was warned before ordering it. My favorite plate was Chicken Masala (click here for recipe), which is a sauce mixture of chicken, tomatoes, cinnamon, coconut, and cumin and yellow mustard seeds, ...and etc. It was very yummy and see for yourself:

Dinner Outfit:

Last time I was asked to give a close up photo of my clutch so below is the photo. Since last time, I have added the studs on the side of the clutch and I think that I might add some stripes of a different color, like blue and white or green. I don't know yet. What do you think?

A delicious mix of patterns

Hello Lovelies,
We have all (I think) learn to love the mix of different patterns in our outfit. At least if we haven't fallen yet into mixing patterns together, we do love polka dots and floral prints, so I put them together in today's outfit. Since I was mixing 2 to 3 different patterns, I looked for different sized patterns. The polka dot shirt really has small dots when compared to the flowers on the floral pants. Then, I added plain colored items such as the long white coat and black flats, in order to tone the outfit a little bit down.

The item I love the most in this outfit is the white coat or the white blazer, it fits perfectly and although it has 3/4 sleeves, it's very warm because of the inside, which is very 'stuffed' (ha!). I'm wearing a size Large and not medium, which is normally my size because I wanted my coat to be very large on me.

I did not have to add the scarf around the bag but I thought that the little touch of fur on my outfit would elevate it somehow and then it was one of those 'out of nowhere' cold days during which some fur won't kill.
Anyways, what do you think about the outfit? Convinced or not you should mix patterns?

On my Neutral Side for my dinner night + pictures of my single New friend

Hello Lovelies,
Yesterday, before my dinner night with my longtime girlfriend, I volunteered to look after my friend's little young dog. He is so cute and quiet. All he does is watching TV and waiting for his mom to come back home.

Anyway, I decided to wear neutral colors for the dinner and so I paired a light pink sweater with a light blue pleated skirt. From then I just mixed and matched the accessories for the ones that would go well with the outfit. The faux fur scarf wrapped around the bag was inspired by an outfit worn by the fashion blogger Blair (Atlantic-Pacific) a few days ago.

Let me introduce you to my single new friend. He is single and he is looking for the woman of his life, the apple of his eye, the one who would be willing to spend the rest of her life by his side. Well, he is insisting on introducing himself.

He wants to add that he still live with his Mom and hope that it is not of any inconvenience for the future girl he will love and cherish with all his heart. Otherwise, he is very sorry because it won't work if she is not ready to live with him and his mommy.

Thank you for checking my post :)

Burgundy & Leopard

Hello Lovelies,
Burgundy is a very nice, classy color and can actually be worn with almost any other color, I think. I recently wore my new leather burgundy jacket with an all black outfit.

Fishnet clothes usually have the reputation of being for Gothic or "Easy women" but with the right pairing of items they can be even worn by Queen Elisabeth II of England (ha!). To add a touch of femininity to my outfit, I added leopard pumps to my outfit and as you all know you can never go wrong with leopard heels.

Let me tell you something about these ones I'm wearing. They are a gift from a friend who knows how much I'm in love with leopard print. She went to H&M and she got these shoes for my birthday and the funniest thing is that they look exactly, let me just say it again, they look exactly like my other Christian Louboutin ones (meaning that no one needs to spend hundreds of dollars in order to get beautiful and cute stuffs I guess).

[Wearing]: H&M leopard print pumps (similar here) | H&M black jeggings (last seen here) | Forever 21 black Fishnet or Mesh jumper/sweater (similar here) | Forever 21 white chiffon shirt (similar here) | Macy's burgundy motorcycle leather jacket (similar here for less) | Accessories: 80's purple sunglasses, H&M, Charlotte Russe, Maxx New York (very old!)

Dinner Outfit

To stay in this Burgundy theme, I wanted to share one of my outfits in which I wear only one item of Burgundy. For a dinner with a friend, I wore burgundy shorts that paired up with a gold/bronze sequin top, a leopard clutch because, as you probably noticed, this fall is all about layering and contrasting items of different textures.

[Wearing]: Urbanog black and brown cap toe pumps (last seen here) | H&M burgundy cotton shorts (here) | H&M bronze sequin top (similar here) | H&M leather & wool jacket (maybe similar here) | Accessories: H&M, Charlotte Russe, Express leopard print clutch (old! similar here)

In this outfit I have a huge mixture of textures: leather, wool, sequin, leopard print, cotton shorts, which were all built around the burgundy shorts to make a good transitioning outfit from summer to Fall (Of course now we are deep in Fall but I wore this outfit 4 weeks ago).
